Liza MacNamara, lsw

NJ License #:

Hi, I’m Liza MacNamara, LSW. I’m a licensed social worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Northern Arizona University. My work is grounded in the belief that healing is possible for everyone—and that therapy can be a powerful place to reconnect with yourself, find clarity, and build a life that feels more aligned and whole.

I work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are navigating a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, emotional overwhelm, and the ongoing stress of simply being human. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I meet each client where they are and tailor our work together to fit their unique needs, goals, and pace.

My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I draw from a range of modalities—including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory, somatic practices, and mindfulness. These approaches allow me to support both the mind and body, helping clients not just talk about change, but truly feel it—nervous system deep.

Therapy with me isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about getting curious, finding compassion for every part of you, and learning how to move through pain in a way that builds resilience, self-trust, and inner peace. I deeply respect the courage it takes to ask for support, and I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they uncover their own strength and capacity for growth.
